Note A very old club dating from the early 1900’s, St. Peter’s became London Road FC in 2003, before changing their name back again two years later. Situated a couple of miles outside St. Albans off the main road to Harpenden, the pitch is part of a municipal park. The club shares changing facilities with clubs using the other pitches in the park although the ground is separated from them and enclosed by a well-maintained hedge and is fully railed. It would be interesting to see old pictures of the pitched-roofed stand that stands mid-way along one touchline, with the dugouts opposite. Former South Midlands club Selby FC also played at the ground until 1989. DB
A photograph by Colin Peel showing the pitch in a rather threadbare state!
