Snapshots - Wick FC

Wick vs Littlehampton Town. Sussex County League Division One, 28 August 2006, Crabtree Park. Score 4-0. Attendance 153.
As always, a morning kick off for this Bank Holiday local derby at one of my favourite grounds in the Sussex County League. Movements between neighbouring clubs is very common (and almost incestuous) during the close season and Littlehampton had lost their manager and most of their squad to Wick during the summer. As a consequence it was a very young and entire new Littlehampton squad, expected to struggle this season; whereas Wick were amongst the fancied clubs for the title but had made a disappointing start. One this occasion, Wick (in red) emerged as comfortable winners over ‘The Marigolds’. Note the crab apples in the tree in the first photograph (the ground is Crabtree Park); whilst the small red shelter previously saw service at the ground of the now defunct Oving FC, near Chichester.
