Haverhill Rovers vs Eastbourne Borough. FA Cup 2nd Qualifying Round, 30 September 2006, Hamlet Croft. Score 1-0. Attendance 504. The magic of the FA Cup arrived in Suffolk as Haverhill Rovers (in red) of the Eastern Counties League Division One achieved a major giant killing over Eastbourne Borough, four steps above them in Conference South. Borough were the biggest club ever to visit Hamlet Croft and the locals turned out in large numbers to support their local side (even if they were not particularly vocal). In a poor game of very few clear-cut chances, Rovers’ Paul Shaw struck the only goal of the game in stoppage time to condemn Eastbourne to an embarrassing early FA Cup exit. DB
