Eastbourne Town v East Grinstead Town. Royal Ulster Rifles Charity Cup 4th Round, 18 December 2004, The Saffrons. Score 2-3 aet.  Attendance 109.
For a so-called sleepy retirement town, Eastbourne doesn’t do too badly with three senior clubs all bearing the Town’s name: Eastbourne Borough, Eastbourne United Assocation, ... and Eastbourne Town. Add Hailsham Town down the road to that list, and you have a pretty lively local football scene. Town have done a lot of work recently to transform the Saffrons into a pleasant venue, and fence off the open cricket side during the season to fully enclose the ground. East Grinstead (in stripes) have proved something of a bogey side in recent years, and were once again on this occasion. Burgers recommended!  DB.
