Burnham vs Marlow. Southern League Division One West, 4 March 2006, The Gore. Score 3-1. Attendance 179. Considering that the two clubs are barely eight miles apart, making this very much a local derby, it’s a shame the attendance wasn’t higher. However, Burnham have struggled to get decent crowds in recent years and this was still their second best League gate of the season so far. The newly developed Gore deserves much better patronage. The new stand/conference facility is superb and a stark contrast to the older structure on the opposite site. Burnham (bue/white) were stunned by an own goal early on, but never really looked back once skipper Paul Brett had equalised mid-way through the first half. A couple of clinical finishes by Michael Bartley within a minute of one another secured a deserved three points; with both keepers making good saves and the home side hitting the bar in an entertaining game. DB.
