Note As mentioned on the Introductory page to the site, I have fond memories of Fetcham Grove, and a certain affection for the mighty Tanners ... albeit not quite as mighty as in the mid-1970s when I followed them as a spotty herbert. I can honestly say however, that I wasn’t a ‘glory hunter’ and at least had family links to nearby Ashtead. When I re-visited the ground, it was more or less as I remembered it, which may not say a lot for the club’s ambition! The only real change appeared to be the partial terracing and cover at the near end of the ground, built into what as a child, appeared a huge grass bank. Apart from that, Fetcham Grove remains an architypal leafy Isthmian League venue; relatively undeveloped ... and all the better for it. DB |
