United Counties League

Note Only formed in its present guise as recently as 1995 according the club crest (the official website has it as 1996!) the club has in fact existed since 1980 when it was began life as Motague FC and subsequently Sun FC. The club has found its first couple of seasons in the United Counties League something of a learning curve but a visit to the well maintained new ground at Jubilee Park makes one aware of the ambition there. The main pitch is fully railed with an area of cover halfway along one touchline, with two wooden varnished dugouts in front. New floodlights costing 37,000 were opened in July 2004 with a commemorative match vs Peterborough United, and there is ample scope for further development. The clubhouse building inside the main gate has a temporary look about it and this could be another club to keep an eye on in the coming years. DB
