Note Home for Holbeach United (founded 1929) is the municipal sports ground at Carters Park. Sadly both the covered areas fashioned from old Anderson Shelters, and the wonderful wooden pitched roof stand (below) that was opened in the 1930s, have been demolished. In place of the latter however is a fine £110,000 replacement opened in December 2005 - a pleasant change from the bland modern stands that are springing up everywhere. For many years shared with the local cricket club, Carters Park is now fully enclosed and the dugouts, that were once part of the main stand, are now situated on the far touchline. DB |
