Note Shared with the local cricket club, Elm Recreation Ground is a pleasant and well appointed venue. Highworth lifted the Hellenic Premier Division title in 2004/05 and their ambition was matched with ground developments the following season. The small seated area that straddled the half-way line on the near touchline (see photograph at foot of page) has now been replaced with two larger prefabricated alternatives, which due to the slope of the pitch have concrete foundations, thereby affording a better view than is usually possible from such structures, at the bottom end of the pitch. The vacated space now provides an area of covered standing, with HTFC painted on the rear wall. Similarly, the brick and breezeblock dugouts that stood on either side have been demolished, and modern replacements relocated on the opposite touchline. The clubhouse stands a short way behind the near goal but is elevated and enables spectators to enjoy a reasonable view without straying too far from the bar. The far side is quite open as one would expect and there are further pitches behind the far goal, which is backed by mature foliage. DB
