Note Rothamsted Park is rather tucked away behind the local swimming pool at the far end of a pay and display car park off Amanbury Lane. Its rather secluded location leaves it a potential target for local vandals although fortunately the only evidence of ‘youth culture’ is the graffiti art that adorns the clubhouse / changing room building that is set back just outside the ground itself (in his book on Herts’ grounds, Peter Miles comments that “Harpenden is so posh, it has no vandals!”).

Cover is provided by a small stand on the near touchline which, as it is named the Centenary Stand, was presumably erected 100 years after the club’s formation, in 1991 (the ‘Town’ suffix was added in 1908). It is painted a deep green which ties in quite nicely with the foliage that encloses the ground, although the dugouts on the far side are painted a rather incongruous blue! DB
