Note Sadly, the historic White Lion ground home to Edgware since 1939 appears to be living on borrowed time. Edgware’s lease expires in 2011 and plans to build on the site were approved by Harrow Council at the end of 2006, having been turned down by a different adminstration earlier in the year. Developers who own the freehold have promised to give the council £750,000 towards sports development in the Borough and the money is likelty to be spent on completing the facilities at the Prince Edward Playing Fields. This was orginally to have been a new ground for Wealdstone FC but has not been completed since the original developers went bust in 2004.

Despite the promise of a new, smaller stadium, possibly adjacent to a new ground for Barnet FC, the likelihood of a loss of identity and income from bar takings means that The Wares have pledged to continue their fight to remain at the White Lion Ground. DB
