Note Two very basic wooden dugouts – one painted black and the other unpainted – provide the only cover at the home of ‘The Zeppelins’. The club’s unusual nickname is a reminder of the shooting down of the German Shuttle-Lanz SL-11 airship over Cuffley on 3 September 1916: the first to be brought down over England during the Great War. Although technically smaller than a true Zeppelin, let’s not be pedantic! The pirch is fully railed and there is a clubhouse with a small overhang set back behind the near goal. DB
