Note Unlike the former Chessington United (Mole Valley Predators FC, who resigned from the CCL at the end of 2005/06), Chessington & Hook’s ground is actually in the town ... down a narrow track opposite Chessington World of Adventures to be precise. It is rather tucked away but opens out into a rough but quite substantial car park. The ground has a pleasant rural setting, with a new seated stand (erected 2006) providing cover along one touchline. This replaced a rather rudimentary shelter - the Bill Bateman Stand - constructed from corrugated iron and scaffolding poles. The old structure would never have won any architectural awards, but it at least demonstrated a degree of ingenuity. Sadly, its replacement maintains a trend for clubs erecting rather bland ‘flat-pack’ stands, although one can quite understand their attraction to clubs having to meet grading criteria and indeed Chessington & Hook had to meet the CCL ‘A’ grading to maintain their Premier Division status. The dugouts are opposite. There is a clubhouse and snack bar behind the near goal, where a further area of cover has also been erected. The spectators’ entrance at the far end of the car park is guarded by an old ‘Evening Standard’ vendor’s booth. DB
