Don’t be put off by the Industrial Estate address. Portway Stadium is not a bland out-of-town development, quickly erected on the cheap by a local council as part of a land sale deal. There is an impressive stand with bench seating, and equally imposing clubhouse built along the near touchline, which is also slightly banked. The remaining sides are relatively undeveloped, although the banking extends around behind the top goal, which provides a good vantage point. There is a nice turnstile block, fronted by a reasonably sized car park. Unfortunately the sun made it difficult to take good pics, but it is a ground well worth a visit. DB
